Dr. Idriss, Sister's Aroma, Jacquemus, Dior, and Makeup by Mario: five beauty brands handling light, texture, and retouching differently.

Behind every standout beauty campaign is a deliberate choice—whether it's trusting natural light, leaning into texture, or letting the product carry the frame without over-styling.

Dr. Idriss skincare: Natural lighting and minimal retouching

I like that the photos look very natural, no retouched look. Great ecom shot too: hard light, taken in one shot, no signs of compositing or unnatural feel, which is also great. These are just ecommerce shots so very technical (and boring, let's be honest 😅). But I'm curious what their campaign shots would look like. Dr. Idriss (@shereeneidriss)'s work shows how effective minimal product photography can be when you trust the product itself. Sister's Aroma body scrubs: Contrasting execution in dual launch

Sister's Aroma (@sistersaroma.ua) launched two new body scrubs with two main images. I like both concepts, but the execution feels inconsistent. The Sugar Porn scrub's retouching isn't as tight as Cherry Me. It could use more polishing. The Cherry Me image feels more refined overall, with cleaner edges and more careful attention to detail. Sugar Porn has some rough patches in comparison, especially in the product finishing. But in the world of fast-turnaround product photography, it's probably fine. Both get the job done for announcing new launches, even if one is clearly more polished than the other. Jacquemus Le Paysan: Natural light and nostalgic styling

One of my all-time favorite campaigns from one of my favorite brands: Jacquemus (@jacquemus). Shot by Rosie Marks (@marksrosie), the concept resonates with everybody on this planet: mother, how we remember her and our childhood memories. Execution is on the next level too, very on brand and at the same time using trends in natural light, colors, and product-focused composition. Shot by Rosie Marks for Jacquemus' "Le Paysan" 2025 campaign starring Charlotte Le Bon, the work honors Simon Porte Jacquemus' late mother through intimate, everyday nostalgia. The set design and styling lean into that Mediterranean minimalism the brand is known for, making this natural light product photography feel both personal and effortlessly luxe. Dior Forever: Sculpted backgrounds that echo cream texture

This is very Dior (@diorbeauty). The background behaves like an extension of the product: sculpted, pressed, and skin-like, reinforcing cream texture rather than decorating the frame. A single, disciplined color family lets form, finish, and controlled chrome highlights carry the image, while clear visual hierarchy (main shot, range, comparison) keeps every frame purposeful. The embossed branding adds depth without acting as a prop. Gorgeous photos. [Category: Cosmetics] [Surface: Leather] [Lighting: Soft] [Style: Minimalist] [Mood: Luxurious] [Palette: Warm Tones]

Makeup by Mario's jelly balm: Tactile textures and dessert-inspired styling

Makeup by Mario (@makeupbymario) launched this as a limited collection, so most of the effort went into e-commerce shots. Their main focus was selling the product. Perfect detailed retouching, close-ups of textures, and a variety of on-model images showing results. They put less attention on social content, but made a smart move using food and dessert as part of the concept (huge trend right now), plus red colors and those tactile jello textures that photograph so well.
